Peter Horry (1743 or 1747 – 28 February 1815) was a South Carolina militia leader. He started his military career in 1775 as one of 20 captains the Provincial Congress of South Carolina elected to serve the 1st and 2nd Regiments. He achieved the rank of Brigadier General , leading the 5th South Carolina Regiment. After the Fall of Charleston, he fought under Francis Marion. Horry County, South Carolina, is named for him.
